🌍 Race Times in Your Timezone, Finally!
No more mental math before a race. From today, every event on XCLusive Racing is shown in your own local time.
It took us only four years, but we are proud to finally say it: event times on the website are now displayed in your own timezone, or in a custom one of your choosing.
Why this was overdue
What started years ago as the Xbox Community League has grown into an international community of around 8,000 drivers. On any given race night, our grids are filled with people from all over Europe and well beyond, all logging in from different corners of the world.
Until now, that meant one thing: converting times yourself. Is it 20:00 CET 7PM BST or CEST? Did daylight saving just kick in? Is that an hour earlier for me, or later? We have all seen the messages asking "what time is this in my timezone?", and we know more than one driver has shown up an hour late, or an hour early, staring at an empty server. That ends today.
How it works
Automatic detection. The website now detects your timezone automatically and displays all events in your local time. For most of you, there is nothing to do. Just open the calendar and the times are already correct.
Custom timezone. Using a VPN, travelling, or operating the site from a different country than where you actually race? No problem. You can set a custom timezone in your profile, and the website will use that instead of the detected one.
24-hour notation by default. With this update we have switched to the standard 24-hour time notation, for example 20:30 instead of 8:30 PM, as it is the clearest format for an international community. Prefer AM and PM? You can still switch back to the 12-hour format in your account settings.
A quick tip before your next race
Take a moment to check your profile and make sure your timezone and time format are set the way you want. Especially if you use a VPN, it is worth confirming the site shows the right time before your next race night.
Still in testing
This feature is currently in its testing phase. We have checked it carefully, but with drivers spread across so many timezones, there may be edge cases we have not seen yet. If something looks off, such as an event showing at the wrong time or your setting not saving, please open a ticket in #🎟️-support-ticket so we can fix it quickly. The more details you give, such as your timezone, the event, and what time you expected to see, the faster we can sort it out.
Built for a global grid
XCLusive Racing has always been about bringing drivers together, wherever they are from. Showing race times in your own timezone is a small change on the surface, but it makes the league more accessible for everyone on the grid, and it is one more step in making XCL a true home for sim racers around the world.
