I’m not seeing the server
Server
The RACE SERVER will show up at the time the events starts.
( Example - server 22 is on COTA and the MONZA race starts at 11am - Server 22 will restart at 11am switch the track to MONZA for your event )
Refresh your server list at the time of the event start.
Still not showing? wait 30seconds and Try Refreshing again.
If it is still not showing then make a @Event Manager aware ASAP via discord chat.
Is there a practise server
Server
We are currently testing a system that allows drivers who signed up more than 1 hour before the event to access the Practice server for 1 hour before the event starts.
You will see the practise server information as soon as you register. ( it will tell you, you have been registered for the practise server )
If the system is not working yet and you would like to practice before the event, please contact an Event Manager for assistance.
Get signed up well in advance to get a chance to practise and get your setup sorted for the race.
How do I find the server?
Server
On the MAIN MENU / MULTIPLAYER
Search bar - XCL S
Server type - ALL
Show only - OFF
Ping Limit - OFF
Cross Play - ON
IMPORTANT
The server will always display 4/4, even when more than 4 drivers are able to join.
If the server shows as FULL, this means you are not on the entry list. Please check that you have registered correctly for the event.
If you have registered but still cannot join, please contact an Event Manager for assistance.
I signed up 1 minute before the event start time
Events
You need to sign up to the event 5minutes before the race starts.
This is because the entry list is pushed to the server 5 minutes before the server restarts.
So sign up early! Don’t leave it until the last minute or you will not be added and will not be able to race.
We strongly recommend signing up to an event as early as possible.
Can’t make it anymore? No problem — you can always un-RSVP if your plans change.
My stats are wrong, why?
Website
Due to the transition to the new system, some drivers’ stats may be incorrect.
We are working through the results and correcting them. Some drivers’ stats have already been corrected, while others are still being worked on.
Please be patient while we work through the remaining files.
Hopefully, your results are amongst those currently being processed.
if they are wrong and it has been some time, please open a support ticket. https://discord.com/channels/1010225381023944765/1536710998063317002
Driver swap events
Driver Swap
🪤 CREATE A TEAM
On the website, click Racing → Teams. Create a team and invite your Team mate.
Your Team mate will receive a inbox with instructions how to join the team.
✍️ REGISTER FOR THE EVENT
One of you registers for the Driver Swap Event, selecting the car you’ll be driving.
Make sure you tick the option to register your Team mate too.
⚠️ Remember who the START DRIVER is.
🚨 START DRIVER
The Start Driver must be the first driver from your team to join the server.
Communicate with each other to make sure this happens. The Start Driver sets up the car, so communicate with your teammate and make sure you both practice with the setup and are happy with it!
🚨 QUALIFYING
It’s easiest to have ONLY THE START DRIVER complete Qualifying.
Swapping drivers during Qualifying can confuse the system when the race starts.
✅ PRE PIT STOP
Before making your pit stop, make sure the first driver has selected the next driver on the Pit Stop MFD.
The driver swap will be one of the mandatory pit stop actions, so make sure it goes GREEN in the mandatory pit stop HUD.
🤝 PIT STOP
The first driver pulls into the red pit box as normal.
The new driver won’t see the pit stop countdown, so communicate with each other.
As soon as the car is dropped off the jacks, the new driver takes control of the car. ( make sure the car is switched on and the ignition started before the driver swap )
Driver swap spectator bug
Driver Swap
⚠️ THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! ⚠️
There is a bug where, if you are spectating the wrong car when pressing DRIVE, you may be unable to drive when the car is handed over to you during the driver swap.
❌ If this happens, your race could be over.
CHECK THIS BEFORE EVERY DRIVER SWAP!
🔧 HOW TO CHECK / FIX IT
1️⃣ Select YOUR CAR
2️⃣ Go into REPLAY
3️⃣ CHANGE CAR and then change back to YOUR CAR
4️⃣ EXIT REPLAY
✅ FINAL CHECK
Press DRIVE.
If you are ON YOUR CAR, you are good to go. DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING until the driver swap has been completed.
If you are NOT ON YOUR CAR, repeat the process above. You must have done it incorrectly.
⚠️ THIS CAN ALSO BE DONE IF THE BUG OCCURS AFTER EXITING THE CAR.
CHECK IT. FIX IT. THEN SWAP. 🏁

Understanding XCL Race flags
Race Flags
GREEN FLAG — GO / CLEAR TRACK AHEAD
This flag signals the start of a race. It is also used when a yellow flag is no longer in effect ahead.
YELLOW FLAG — CAUTION
Normally shown when there is a car stationary on track or off to the side of the track.
If you are unsure where the car causing the yellow flag is, slowing down is advised. This is only a suggestion, but be aware that slow cars may be on the outside of the track or even on the racing line.
WHITE FLAG — SLOW CAR AHEAD
Normally shown after a yellow flag. In most cases, this means the car involved is rejoining the track or getting back to racing speed.
Be aware of where the slow car is and be predictable. Make it clear which side you intend to pass them on.
BLUE FLAG — FASTER CAR APPROACHING
If you are the faster car, make your intentions VERY CLEAR, be patient and wait for a safe opportunity to pass. It is the faster car’s responsibility to make a clean and SAFE overtake.
As the slower car, stay very predictable and pay close attention to the faster car’s intentions. If they clearly show an intention to overtake into the braking zone, provide enough space for the overtake to be completed safely.
You are allowed to hold your line as long as the car behind is not showing an intention to overtake.
LAPPED CARS: Lapped cars ARE allowed to overtake cars they are faster than. If a faster car is also a back-marker, use caution and allow them to pass, as this will more than likely benefit both drivers.
CHECKERED FLAG — RACE HAS ENDED
This flag signals the end of the race.
Use caution after crossing the finish line, as cars will more than likely be slowing down to return to the pits.
If you are slowing down to return to the pits, make sure you are OFF THE RACING LINE to avoid being hit by a car crossing the finish line.
I don't understand the BLUE FLAG
Race Flags
FOR THE BLUE-FLAGGED CAR
When the blue flag appears:
YOU NEED TO:
• Stay on your line.
• Be predictable.
You can be sporty and:
• Lift on a straight.
• Take a wider line through a corner.
These tactics will usually cost both drivers the least amount of time.
When the faster driver comes within striking distance and shows clear intent to overtake — for example, flashing lights and/or showing a different line:
YOU CANNOT:
• Defend your position or drive a defensive line.
• Drive the racing/ideal line.
YOU NEED TO:
• Stay on your side of the track.
• Provide a safe overtake.
For example, if you choose the inside line when entering a corner together, you should stay on that side until the faster driver has made their move. This will usually mean compromising your line at the next corner if it goes the other way, as you cannot simply cross back over.
If it is not the next corner, you still need to stay on your side unless the overtaking car loses significant distance due to a poor exit or similar. You can then return to your normal racing line.
When they close in again, the procedure above applies again.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
FOR THE OVERTAKING CAR
When you see a blue-flagged car:
YOU NEED TO:
• Continue at your normal pace until you reach striking distance.
• Be patient.
• Be predictable.
When you get within striking distance:
YOU CANNOT:
• Overtake as though you are racing for position or make an unpredictable move.
• Push the driver wide or off the track. They are still in a race — it is simply not your race for position.
THE CAR BEHIND IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING A SAFE OVERTAKE.
When you get close to a blue-flagged car and clearly show that you will pass on the inside or outside, they should not defend, allowing you to make a clean pass.
If you cannot immediately pass, focus on your exit and the next corner. Be patient and take the opportunity when it is safe.
How do i sign up to a race?
Events
CHOOSE YOUR EVENT
Choose an event that suits you, including your preferred race time and format, then sign up by clicking the REGISTER option.
CHECK YOUR WEBSITE INBOX
After registering, check your inbox on the website for the server details and password.
JOIN THE CORRECT SERVER
Make sure you join the correct server for the event you registered for.
This is essential to ensure your race result is recorded and your XCL Rating is updated.
IMPORTANT
If you NO-SHOW (DNS) an event, you will receive a negative XCL Rating of -10.
We recommend NOT quitting during the race, as you can lose a considerable amount of rating.
Make sure you’re ready to race, join the correct server, and stay until the end!
How does the XCL rating system work?
Xcl Rating
The XCL Rating System is based on the Elo rating system, a rating method originally developed for chess.
While traditional Elo was designed for 1v1 competition, we have adapted it to work with an entire race grid of up to 30 drivers.
You can search “Elo rating system” online if you would like to learn more about how the original system works.
- HOW XCL RATING WORKS -
At the end of every race, XCL Rating is distributed across all participating drivers.
Generally, the top half of the field will gain rating, while the bottom half will lose rating.
However, your finishing position is only part of the calculation.
The system also considers the strength of the drivers you competed against, using your base XCL Rating and the overall Strength of Field (SoF) to determine how you were expected to perform.
- EXPECTED PERFORMANCE -
Before calculating your final rating change, the system determines your expected finishing position based on the ratings of the drivers in your race.
This means your finishing position alone does not determine how much XCL Rating you gain or lose.
- FINISH ABOVE EXPECTATIONS -
You receive a bonus to your XCL Rating on top of the rating awarded for your finishing position.
- FINISH BELOW EXPECTATIONS -
Additional XCL Rating is deducted from your base distribution.
- PERFORM AS EXPECTED -
Your rating change will primarily be based on your finishing position within the field.
- WHY SOF MATTERS -
Beating highly-rated drivers is more valuable than beating drivers with a lower rating.
Likewise, finishing behind drivers who are expected to perform better than you will have less of a negative impact.
This means your XCL Rating reflects both your finishing position and the level of competition you faced.
- THE GOAL -
The system is designed to reward drivers who consistently outperform expectations, while ensuring ratings accurately reflect the strength of the competition.

Why isn't there a hotstint to get people in higher classes faster?
Xcl Rating
We don't use hotstints for a couple reasons;
First, with hotstints you get sandbaggers, fast people not caring and putting a far slower time in then they actually could do if they tried.
Then you have your sweats, people spending so much time on a hotstint to set a far faster time then they would do in a normal race situation.
We feel there are people with a lot of racecraft not being able to set the fastest times and people being very capable of setting very fast laps with very poor racecraft which the XCL Rating system is very much exposing.
The current XCL Rating leaderboard is a pretty good represetation of how good the drivers within XCL are due to either good racecraft, pace or both.
The Rating system is designed to rewards lower rated more if they can win from higher rated drivers. So pick your races and multipliers carefully and you'll be where you feel you should be very quickly.
Why can't I enter Bronze or Silver events?
Xcl Rating
For you to enter Bronze or Silver events you must first obtain these licenses. You do so by getting your XCL Rating up.
CLASS XCL RATING
Rookie 0 - 2000
Bronze 2001 - 3000
Silver 3001 - 4000
Gold 4001 - 5000
Platinum 5001 - 6000
Why do I only have 30 minute or shorter races?
Events
Longer Races are for higher classes. Get yourself into the Bronze Class and you will unlock new events.
The higher the classes, the more challenging the events become.
Are assists enabled in XCL?
Events
All assists that influence your driving are turned off on XCL servers to create an even playing field.
Assists like racing line are allowed.
Are there rain races?
Events
There are, but these are also reserved for the higher Class events. We want our drivers to develop good racecraft before we throw all kind of weather elements in. These kind of variables usually cause a lot of mayhem in a race which you should be able to handle.

When am I allowed to report?
Incident Reporting
You can report someone that directly affected or compromised your race.
So if two cars in front crash and because of that one car spins into your car you can only report the car that you made contact with even when it might not have been his/her fault.
It is the right of the 2 cars colliding to report each other. You can however report a car that didn't held his brake after a collision and therefore came back on track.
Which penalties are there?
Incident Reporting
Penalty Codes:
CAIC = Causing an intentional collision.
Our highest penalty. Will result in a severe penalty and a 1 month ban from all XCL Races.
Second time offenders will receive a 1 year ban.
CAHC = Causing a heavy collision.
CAAC = Causing an avoidable collision
This happens a lot when drivers are not paying attention or don't have awareness of their surroundings or the expected situations in a race (especially Lap 1). The other driver has 0 fault and is victim of another incapability to drive or control the car as to be expected.
CAC = Causing a collision.
A driver caused contact which results in minor loss, or is caused by hard racing.
FDOT = Forcing driver of track
DD = Dangerous driving
DR = Dangerous re-entry
IBF = Ignoring blue flags
MUB = Moving under braking
WEV = Weaving
UI = unnecessary impending
ULC = Un-Sportsmanship like Conduct
CT = Cutting Track
Is there a Driver Swap manual?
Driver Swap
Yes there is, you can find it here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1S1tKDWT7bQnEQ2TtH9495vbz4Yt3WBUTY8ynQwlvCuA/edit?usp=drivesdk
If there is any questions left return to the FAQ or join our Discord to contact any of the staff members.
What’s the maximum number of drivers an entry may have?
Driver Swap
In theory it is not limited, but for the sake of authenticity and keeping client numbers in check, it is generally recommended to stick with real-life rules when it comes to the size of individual teams (i.e. 2 to 4 drivers per car depending on the format).
For reference, in real-life, sprint races usually have 2 drivers per car, short endurance races (3H) can have 2 to 3 drivers, while longer endurance events can have up to 4 drivers per entry.
What’s the maximum number of cars an event might have?
Driver Swap
We are limited by our hardware (Xbox, Playstation)
Generally speaking, running events for 10+ hours and/or having more than 85 clients can be considered as extreme load, and the stability or success of the event may be affected by the quality of the server hardware and server connection at hand.
A client is every connection established with the server.

The active driver disconnected from the server, what can we do in order to keep racing?
Driver Swap
Unfortunately, losing the car qualifies as the ultimate technical issue and it may result in a DNF depending on the server configuration and the team’s ability to perform the correct re-join sequence.
The team might be able to reconnect and regain control over the original car, being at least 1 lap down. When a car is lost, make sure all drivers of the team first leave the server. After that, it must be the driver of the entry who was originally the first one to join the server that reconnects first, followed by the other teammates.
The success of the rejoin will be indicated by the fact that the Driver Swap widget is visible on the HUD with the teammates correctly indicated and the timing widget showing the car’s progress from before the disconnection.
If the driver who originally joined the server first from the team is unable to reconnect and regain the car (due to a prolonged technical issue or ISP/power failure), the original entry unfortunately remains lost and the remaining drivers will not be able to continue the race in the same entry.
A teammate couldn’t make it for the race, will our results still count?
Driver Swap
Unfortunately not, the key requirement of team racing is that each driver specified in the entry list must drive at least one stint.
To avoid disqualification at the end of the race, the absence of a driver must be communicated to the organizer before the race server is started so that the entry list can be updated by the event admin.
Please contact the corresponding event managers on Discord.
Our team joined the server but we don’t see each other online in the Driver Swap widget (usually also manifested in an incremented race number when joining)
Driver Swap
This is a sign of desynced entry information that occurs due to an error in the event’s entry list or entry list corruption.
Event admins might be able to amend the entry list if it is caused by an error (i.e. wrong encoding, formatting or XUID/PSID) or try a server restart.
